The club’s second scheduled outing this year is, as always, to the Elk River for February 16th, 17th and 18th. The  Elk River Clean-Up is scheduled for Saturday, February 17th. We will be meeting for breakfast prior to going to the dam at Woodard’s Market & Deli, 1415 Fayetteville Hwy, Lynchburg, TN, at 7:00 AM on Saturday morning.(Put that address into your GPS if you’re not sure about where it is). Woodard’s is a large grocery/deli/gas station (Shell) on the left as you are leaving Lynchburg at the junction of Highways 50 and 55. The telephone number there is 931-759-7227.

After breakfast, we will leave from there on the short drive to the dam to begin the cleanup. After the cleanup is completed, of course, we hope, and plan to get in some good fly fishing!

The club will provide all the “grabbers” to pick up the trash and the bags to hold it. If you have your own “grabber” and want to bring it, please do.

Also, that weekend, some club members may be camping at Tims Ford State Park starting on Wednesday at the campground.. If you are planning on camping there prior to the cleanup on Saturday, call Tim’s Ford State Park now to reserve a space. You can call them at 931-962-1183.

Tim’s Ford State Park, located on the Tim’s Ford Reservoir in the rolling hills of southern middle Tennessee, is an outstanding recreational area and fishing paradise. Long before the construction of Tim’s Ford Dam on the headwaters of the Elk River, the area was used extensively by the Indians as a hunting and fishing territory. Archaeological excavations uncovered numerous artifacts and occupational sites, indicating that man had occupied the area as much as 10,000 to 12,000 years ago.
